He sadly died of wounds in France & Flanders 3-8-1917 age 35. later Chauffeur Driver in ASC Transport, a local Leicester man from City of Queens South Africa, 5 bars, Talana, Defence of Ladysmith, OFS, Laings Nek, Belfast, 4331 Pte Edward Hickman, 18th Hussars. He was both born & enlisted in Newcastle & is buried in Lonsdale Cemetery at Authuille. He was born in Wemyss, Fife & enlisted in East Wemyss whilst living in Buckhaven.He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Loos memorial.The C.W.G.C state that he was the late son of James & Jessie Galloway of 50 Micheal street, Buckhaven, Fife.
